Metropolis Belly

discarded batteries cling to the walls
remnants of time past participle, simple
it comes, gathers itself and accrues
this space is whale large
under the oil black belly our spoils rest
strewn in invisible concentric circles
we are not happy
not just yet content
this referenced waste land
verge T.S.
Hell of a lot. hell. lambent
Jesus' detritus
lazy post and lintel, crossed and blown assunder
a top the grid
unweidly and driven as nails
crooked and patched together
a thorn would be jealous of its prickishness
Neon, florescant light, our lights are getting dimmer
This city is dim sum
bleached of its metaphors
while the other ones wait under concrete

we do this sort of dance
linger in concentric purlieu
le trou de dieu
but what was it Virginia said?
"Fear no more the heat o' the sun
Nor the furious winter's rages".
Rather it was William I now recall
How much a like is the name William
as to Virginia?
a certain similarity, certainly
certainly
Les Fleurs
Madeimoisselle du fleurs
Our flowers have lasted a week, nearly
Even the sky blue painted ones in the bathroom

Our life, these, this moment
that moment sans ruddy cheek
it felt as if we were swimming
in trees
autumn leaves
a shimmer and a brest the surface
Auburn and birch
a light in attics
rooftops and window access
a loft a balcony
lofting our cigarettes
Fingernail flick
fire and bic
we hold it in our hands now
metropolis belly
hold here new york
winter is nigh
and there are ghosts that walk around
openly
